The entire Palazzo Massaini estate is situated between Pienza and Montepulciano, in the province of Siena, scattered amongst the rolling hills of the Parco Artistico Naturale e Culturale della Val d'Orcia, which was designated a UNESCO Heritage site in 2004.
Pienza is a town of 2,231 inhabitants in the province of Siena, and is probably the most famous and important centre for art in the entire Val d’Orcia area. It is not too far from the Cassia trunk road, and is located reasonably near to the other two major towns in the valley, San Quirico d'Orcia and Castiglione d'Orcia.
