The farmhouses and the Val d'Orcia area

The entire Palazzo Massaini estate is located between Pienza and Montepulciano and is scattered amongst the rolling hills of the Parco Artistico Naturale e Culturale della Val d'Orcia, which was designated a UNESCO Heritage site in 2004.

The property includes 308 hectares of well-maintained land, used to grow vines and olives in the hilly areas and cereal crops on the valley floor.

The evergreen copses, a distinguishing feature of the region, conceal a large clearing with an area of approximately 20 hectares, used to breed dappled deer, and a lake teeming with fish; guests may visit both areas in the company of a guide.

Wild flora and fauna thrives here: it is not unusual to come across hares, pheasants, wolves, hedgehogs, deer and wild boars along the woodland paths and cross-country trails which lead ramblers between vineyards and olive groves.

In this region, guests can spend pleasant holidays going for long walks or bicycle rides (bicycles may be rented free of charge by guests staying at the farmhouses) along quiet and sunny country lanes, in a natural setting which offers a wealth of ancient architectural treasures, magnificent views and typically Tuscan landscapes.
